The Nakano Station (Japanese中 野 駅, Nakano -eki ) is located in Nakano, west of Shinjuku in Tokyo Prefecture and is situated in the district of Nakano 5 -chome (中 野 五 丁目) on the road Nakano - dori.

History

The station was opened on 11 April 1889 for the Kōfu Railroad, the predecessor of today's Chūō Main Line, and took on the handling of passenger and freight trains. The operation of the freight office remained around 70 years, but was set to May 16, 1963. On 31 March 2007, the goods operation was resumed, a renewed permanent operation as freight station is not planned. A little over 3 years after initial setting of freight operation of the station on 16 March 1966, connected to the city's subway network of Tokyo Metro. The Tozai Line Nishi- Funabashi after currently starts here.

Design and tracks

The station was built in design of a transit station and has 8 tracks, spread across four central platforms on which run three lines. The platforms of the station share the assumed as follows: track 1 and 2 are used by the Chūō - sobu Line of JR East, the tracks 3 and 4 of the Tozai Line of Tokyo Metro. Track 5 is used in parallel from the Chūō - sobu - line and Tozai Line. The tracks 6-8 are the Chūō Line.

Platforms

Lines

The station is served by the JR East lines Chūō and Chūō - sobu. During peak hours in the morning and evening, the line will be extended to Tachikawa Station. The Nakano Station is the starting point of the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line. The colors used in the table below correspond to the respective companies assigned color codes of the lines.

Station melody

On Nakano Station own melody is used for each track. On the tracks of the Chūō - sobu line come on track 1 a piece called it. Gota de Vient to German about drops in the wind, on track 2 it. Cielo Estrellado to German about starry used. The tracks of the Tozai Line have no station melody. Here, only a buzzing sound announcing the closing of the doors and the shutdown of the train sounds. On the tracks 6-8 of the Chūō Line different melodies from the JR - SH series are used.

Environment

Near the station are some of the visitors to the city Nakano important buildings. Just north of the station on the north side of the station square are the Sun Mall and Nakano Broadway. These are known as the headquarters and home of Mandarake, a second-hand dealers around the otaku culture. Located directly north- west of the station is the Nakano Sun Plaza, a hotel and at the same time a large concert hall. Additional information is found near the train station, the headquarters of the department store chain Marui. About the southern exit of the public library and the Culture and Convention Centre Nakano Zero can be reached.

Use

In 2007, the JR lines were used at Nakano station from an average of 123 022 passengers a day, so that the rank 25 took over 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR East in 2007. The Tozai Line was used by an average of 132 742 passengers a day.
