Nakano, Tokyo

Nakano (Japanese中 野 区, -ku ) is one of the 23 city wards of Tokyo, capital of Japan.

Geography

Nakano adjacent to the city Shinjuku, Suginami, Nerima, Shibuya and Toshima and is located west of the central district of Shinjuku.

Through the region, the rivers flow Kanda, Myosho -ji and Zenpuku -ji, Ekoda and Aratama waterway.

Nakano is composed of the following 18 districts: Minamidai, nakan, Ekoda, Yayoicho, Arai, Shirasai, Maruyama, Saginomoiya, Honcho, Chuo, Higashinakano, Numabukuro, Matsugaoka, Eharacho, Nogata, Yamatocho, Wakamiya and Kamisaginomiya.

History

1447 defeated Ōta Dōkan here in a battle Toshima Yasutsune. 1606 Naruki Kaidō, predecessor of today's Ōme Kaidō, a road was after Ōme built. In 1695, a facility to house stray dogs has been established in conjunction with the adopted of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi Shōrui Awaremi no Rei.

In the Meiji Restoration, the area was struck by several restructuring of Shinagawa prefecture, which took over the administration of parts of the formerly shōgunatstreuen areas ( Bakuryō, hatamoto - country) in the southwest of the province of Musashi. In 1871 the 12 villages that lay on the territory of today's Nakano, part of Tokyo Prefecture.

Opened in 1889, the Kōfu Railroad. The predecessor of today's Chūō Main Line had between the stations in Shinjuku and Hachioji also a train station in Nakano.

1878 Nakano was in the final division of the circle Tama seat of the district of Higashi- Tama ( "East- Tama "). With the introduction of modern municipal codes 1889 Nakano -mura is increased by neighboring villages. After the merger of the counties Higashi- Tama and Minami- Toshima ( " South Toshima" ) in 1896 belonged to the district of Nakano Toyotama - the common county government was located in the city Yodobashi. 1897 was also Nakano Nakano -machi as a district town. The district was formed on October 1, 1932 through the amalgamation of the towns and Nogata Nakano in the city of Tokyo. 1943 Nakano prefecture is directly related to the abolition of the city of Tokyo. Today's management structure as a quasi municipal " special district " is derived from 15 March 1947, when the U.S. occupiers in Tokyo performed an administrative reform.

The Tokyo subway network will be extended after 1961 to Nakano.

In Nakano, there are 10 major roads: the Shinōme - Kaidō and Ōme - Kaidō, as well as the Mejiro, Waseda, Okubo, honan, Yamanote, Nakano, Kannana and Nakasugi Street. There are no highway in Nakano.

Mayor of Nakano is in its third term of office Daisuke Tanaka, he was last confirmed in May 2010 at the office. The next mayoral election is scheduled for June 8, 2014. The District Parliament has regular members and 42 is ( most recently in 2011 ) chosen with uniform regional elections.

For the Parliament of the prefecture district forms a four- mandate constituency. At the last election in 2013, the four mandates distributed to the four largest parties LDP, Kōmeitō, DPJ and JCP, all of which had only nominated a candidate.

For the Shūgiin, the lower house of the national parliament, Nakano and Shibuya together form the constituency of Tokyo 7, represented by Democrat Akira Nagatsuma.
