Nakhon Chai Si District

Amphoe Nakhon Chai Si ( Thai: อำเภอ นครชัยศรี, pronounced: [ Nak ʰ on ʧai -si ː ] ) is a district ( Amphoe ) of Nakhon Pathom. The Nakhon Pathom province is located in the middle of Central Thailand.

Geography

The neighboring Amphoe are from clockwise from the north: Bang Len, Phutthamonthon, Sam Phran, Mueang Nakhon Pathom and Don Tum. All Amphoe lie in the province of Nakhon Pathom.

The main water resource of Nakhon Chai Si is the Maenam Tha Chin, also Nakhon Chai Si river called that flows in large meanders of the county from north to south.

History

The city of Nakhon Chai Si was founded in the 16th century by King Maha Chakraphat of Ayutthaya. When King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) introduced the so-called Monthon as part of its administrative reform, Nakhon Chai Si was the capital of the Nakhon Chai Si Monthon. As subsequent governments the tasks Monthon system, Nakhon Chai Si was a district of Nakhon Pathom.
