Ronaldo Aparecido Rodrigues called Naldo ( born September 10, 1982 in Londrina, Brazil ) is a Brazilian football player who is considered to be free-scoring center-back. Typical for Naldo are his hard shot free kicks, which is why he is also known as Knalldo.

Career

Clubs

In his youth he played for the RS Futebol Clube Alvorada, a Brazilian (youth) football club which also provides a training and player agency, before he was finally active in the Brazilian first division club Esporte Clube Juventude from January 2004.

Werder Bremen

After Naldo was noticed in South America as a talented central defender in the Brazilian League, signed him Werder Bremen in 2005 for an estimated transfer fee of two to three million euros as the successor of the FC Bayern Munich exchanged Valérien Ismaël. Naldo Werder got the shirt number 4 and was immediately regulars. In his first Bundesliga season he got 32 times in the starting lineup. His first Bundesliga goal he scored on 19 November 2005 against VfL Wolfsburg. In the Champions League, the Brazilian first met on 18 October 2006 in a free kick against the Bulgarian club Levski Sofia. In the season 2006/ 07 he secured the Bremen with his goal to make it 2-1 final score against VfL Wolfsburg autumn championship.

In April 2010, Naldo retired in the match against Wolfsburg in a challenge with Grafite a bone edema in his right knee. With painkillers he still denied the remaining games of the season. However, in the preparations for the 2010/11 season he could no longer participate. The therapy was considered to be difficult because the injury is rare and the exact cause was not known. First Naldo was treated conservatively in Germany by Hans- Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, Ulrich Boenisch and Werder Bremen team doctor Götz Dimanski. Against the advice of the German doctors and the management Naldo Werder eventually flew to Brazil and settled there, investigate by José Luiz Runco, the physician of the Brazilian national team. On whose advice Naldo's knee has been operated on a few days later, the cartilage was deliberately damaged. Doctors predicted that Naldo would still need at least nine months to recovery. It was feared also that the cartilage damage could later lead to further knee problems.

10 September 2011 (5th Round ) he came in a 2-0 win in the home match against Hamburger SV for the first time after 15 months back in a competitive fixture for use when he came on in the 86th minute for Claudio Pizarro. Interrupted by a conditional by problems with the left knee break Naldo was again achievers of the team.

Throughout his time at Werder Bremen Naldo was regarded as performers and audience favorite. His teammate Tim Wiese described him as one of the best central defender in the Bundesliga.

His contract with Werder Bremen ran until 30 June 2013.

VfL Wolfsburg

For the 2012/13 season Naldo should move to league rivals VfL Wolfsburg. Both clubs reported the transfer as perfect. Information on the transfer fee was not made by the clubs. According to estimates by the media, they should be around five million euros. Naldo's scheduled presentation at VfL Wolfsburg on July 18, 2012 took place, however, without him. The contract did not materialize at the scheduled time, as passed by the medical check to doubt whether he successfully endured knee injury could lead to further problems in the long term yet. National

On March 14, 2007 Naldo was first nominated for the Seleção. Together with his club team-mate Diego Naldo was nominated for the Test matches involving the national team against the selection of Turkey and that of England, and for the South American Championship, the 15 July 2007 was held from June 26 in Venezuela. He made his debut on 1 June 2007 at the new Wembley Stadium in a 1-1 draw against England, where it ran aground in the starting lineup. However, he could not permanently established in the national team despite his good performances in the Bundesliga. His fourth and so far last international match played Naldo in August of the same year. In 2009 he was indeed nominated by Carlos Dunga again for the national team, but did not play.
