Names of God in Islam

The 99 Names of God (Arabic أسماء الله الحسنى, DMG Asmaa ʾ u ' llahi ' l- Husna, the Most Beautiful Names of God ') are of Muslims as synonyms for God (Allah ) was used. Each of these names represents an attribute of God.

In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurayra ( 603-681 ), a companion of Prophet Muhammad, is said to have said:

" إن لله تسعة وتسعين اسما, مائة إلا واحدا, من أحصاها دخل الجنة "

"Verily, God has ninety-nine names, one hundred less than. Who enumerates go to paradise. "

If all names listed in the Qur'an for God, one comes to well over a hundred. Therefore, there are various lists of these 99 names, which differ from each other. For example, even Allah himself is counted in some lists, but not in others.

The hundredth name of God is unpronounceable according to Islamic belief and unknown to man.

The first two names are found in the basmala ( "In the name of the merciful and Most Merciful ").

In Islamic folklore, these names of God are used repeatedly in amulets in the form of prayer sayings to the present day.

According to the belief of Muslims, most of the 99 names of God alone only, and may be worn by any man. These include the below mentioned 99 names that describe a certain property in the superlative ( supreme accomplishment of an adjective ).
