Namiki Shōzō I

Namiki Shozo I. (Japanese并 木 正 三; Izumiya Shozo ,泉 屋 正 三; Onishi Shozo ,大西 庄 三; * 1730 in Osaka, † February 17, 1773 ibid ) was a Japanese kabuki and Bunrakuautor.

Life and work

The father Shōzōs, Izumiya Shōbei, initiated a coffee in a theater ( Shibai jaya ). Shozo was eighteen author to the theaters Onishi no Kuni no Shibai and Shibai and wrote under the pseudonym Izumiya Shozo his first drama Fuyugomori Tsumagoi Ikusa. His second piece otokodate Yoro no Taki, he wrote the following year under the name Onishi Shozo Takagi together with Richu. Both were performed at the theater Kuni no Shibai. 1751 Shozo took lessons with the puppet author Namiki Sōsuke, who however died in the same year.
