Nanna Ditzel

Nanna Ditzel ( born Hauberg; born October 6, 1923 in Copenhagen, † June 17, 2005 ibid ) was a Danish textile, jewelery and furniture designer.

Life

A trained art carpenter became known for the design of furniture awareness. After her studies at the Richards School she studied at the Copenhagen School of Applied Arts ( Kunsthåndværkerskolen ) and the local Royal Danish Academy of Art, where she met her first husband. Together they designed furniture for small apartments, designed exhibitions and designed children's furniture.

Her furniture classics that were known worldwide, include the egg-shaped hanging basket chair (1957 ) and the stool Trissen (1962). The late sixties, she woke attention with their furniture made ​​of fiberglass and foam. For the company Fredericia Furniture, she designed the Bænk for to (1989 ), the shape wooden chair Trinidad (1993) and the chair Sommerfuglen (1990).

She designed silver jewelry for the Copenhagen silversmith Georg Jensen, such as Surf the series.

Their award-winning creations were presented to International and Others in exhibition halls in Amsterdam, London, New York, Madrid, Berlin, Glasgow, Vienna, Reykjavík, Manchester, Stockholm, Paris and Milan.

Between 1968 and 1986 she lived in London and co-founded with her husband Kurt Heath, the international furniture house Interspace in Hampstead.

Nanna Ditzel was married from 1946 to 1961 in his first marriage with the architect Jørgen Ditzel ( 1921-1961 ). From this marriage three children were born. In 1968, she completed her second marriage with Kurt Heide ( 1918-1985 ).
