Naoko Ogigami

Naoko Ogigami (Japanese荻 上 直 子, Ogigami Naoko; * February 15, 1972 in Chiba Prefecture, Japan ) is a Japanese film director and screenwriter.

After studying in her hometown of Chiba she went in 1994 to the USA to study at the University of Southern California film. She worked as an assistant director for commercials and videos. In Los Angeles she made her first short film in 1999 and in 2000 went back to Japan. In 2004 she presented her first feature film with Barber Yoshino, which was shown at the Berlinale in 2004 as part of the Children's Film Festival. In 2006, she made ​​her movie Kamome Shokudo before, which was filmed as the first Japanese film completely in Finland. 2008 Megane her film was in competition at the Sundance Film Festival and was invited to the Berlinale 2008 in the Panorama section.
