Naoto Sato

Naoto Satō (Japanese佐藤 直 人, Satō Naoto; * 1953 ) is a Japanese amateur astronomer.

Satō is one of the most active amateur astronomers in Japan. He discovered from 1995 to date (Jan 2010) at his private observatory (IAU code 369 ) in Chichibu total of 138 asteroids, 18 of them along with Takeshi Urata. He also made the Vorbeobachtungen that C/1989 Y2 ( McKenzie - Russell) led to the discovery of the comet.

Its particularly in favor of the ARISS program (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station), which allows students to get in touch with the International Space Station via amateur radio.

The asteroid ( 6025 ) Naotosato was named after him.
