Napa County, California

The Napa County Napa Valley is a 1850 erected County ( County) in the U.S. state of California. The county seat ( county seat ) is in Napa.

Geography

The County is located north of the San Francisco Bay Area on the bay of San Pablo along the Napa River, and has 2,042 square kilometers ( of which 89 square kilometers of water ).

In the Napa Valley are among the cities of American Canyon, Angwin, Calistoga, Deer Park, St. Helena and Yountville.

Viniculture

Due to the Mediterranean climate, the Napa Valley wines that count since the 1960s to the world's best and are vinified primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Chardonnay thrive. Many well-known wineries are based in the Napa Valley.

According to the census of 2000, there were 124 279 people in Napa County. There were 45 402 households and 30 691 families. The population density was 64 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 79.98 % White, 1.32 % African American, 0.84 % Native American, 2.97 % Asian, 0.23 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 10.95% from other races groups; 3.71% were descended from two or more races. 23.67 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 45 402 households out of which 31.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them. 53.20 % were married couples living together, 9.90% had a female householder with no husband. 32.40 % were non-families. 25.80% of all households were individuals and 11.60 % had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.16 persons.

Based on the county the population was spread out with 24.10 % under the age of 18, 8.50 % from 18 to 24, 27.70% from 25 to 44 years, 24.30 % between 45 and 64 years and 15.40% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 99.60 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.40 males.

The median income for a household was $ 51,738, and the median income for a family was $ 61,410. Males have a median income of $ 42,137, women $ 31,781. The per capita income was $ 26,395. 8.30% percent of the population and 5.60 % of families are below the poverty line. 10.60% of those under age 18 and 5.60% were 65 years or older.
