Naperville is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois, whose territory mostly located in DuPage County, but also partly in Will County. It belongs to the Chicago metropolitan area. The census of 2010 showed a population of 141 853. Naperville is the fourth largest city in Illinois, to Chicago, neighboring Aurora, and Rockford.

Geography

Naperville is located on the prairie level of the Midwestern United States. The western branch of the DuPage River, a tributary of the Des Plaines River, flows through downtown Naperville. Although about 50 kilometers west of downtown Chicago location, Naperville is one of the suburbs of Chicago.

History

Naperville was founded in July 1831 by Joseph Naper. The first settlement was simply Naper 's Settlement, ie (Joseph ) Napers settlement called.
