Nappy Lamare

Nappy Lamare ( born June 14, 1907 in New Orleans as Napoleon Hilton Lamare, † May 8, 1988 in Newhall, California ) was an American jazz musician ( banjo, guitar, vocals).

Lamare starts his music career in New Orleans at the Midnight Serenaders, but also worked at Monk Hazel, Johnny Wiggs, Sharkey Bonano and Ray Bauduc. Lamare is probably through his work with the band of Ben Pollack ( 1930-1935 ) and with the band of Bob Crosby best known ( 1935-1943 ). He then played at Julia Lee. In 1947 he became a partner of Club 47 in Los Angeles, in 1948, he worked for Johnny Dodds. In 1950 Lamare with his band, the Straw Hat Strutters, a TV show and was then five years with the band on tour. He then managed with Ray Bauduc the Riverboat Dandies. After a car accident in the 1960s, he first had to interrupt his work, but remained active. So it was in the 1970s with The World's Greatest Jazz Band on tour and came to Europe with Bob Crosby.
