Naraha (Fukushima)

Naraha (Japanese楢 叶 町, machi ) is a town in the district of Futaba in the Japanese prefecture of Fukushima.

In Japan Naraha is known for the national football training center J -Village, where the national team training, but also for its almost complete evacuation in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

The nuclear power plant, Fukushima Daini extends to the north of the church and in the neighboring community of Tomioka.

Geography

Naraha is located on the Pacific Ocean. 10 km away from the coast, the highlands Abukuma increases, which is characterized by forests and largely uninhabited. Its highest elevation within the municipality is the Hatotogisu -yama (郭 公 山) with 447.8 m.

Naraha is surrounded by Tomioka in the north, Kawauchi in the Northwest, the Southwest and Iwaki Hirono in the south.

History

The community Naraha was founded in 1956 from the merger of village communities Kido (木 戸 村, -mura ) and Tatsuta (竜 田村, -mura ). The name was the county Naraha (楢 叶 郡, -gun ) is removed, the (标 叶 郡, -gun ) to the district of Futaba (双 叶 郡, -gun ), literally, on 1 April 1896 the county Shineha: " two ha (叶 ) ", was merged.

The city was taken on 11 March 2011 by the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami triggered it, with up to 20 May 12 dead and two missing persons were counted. By which triggered the nuclear disaster of Fukushima, the community had to be evacuated for the most part, since their area is up on a thin strip in the south and the sparsely populated southwest within the 20 km exclusion zone. The municipal administration evacuated after Aizumisato, and has been there since the December 21, 2011 its official seat, with a branch in Iwaki is operated. In December 2011, the administration building were decontaminated in Naraha, as a first step for a return of the inhabitants.

Traffic

The most important trunk road Naraha is the National Road 6 by Chūō (Tokyo) or Sendai.

Connection to the rail network is on the JR Joban Line to Nippori Station in Arakawa or Iwanuma. In Naraha There are two stations: Kido and Tatsuta.

Education

In Naraha are the primary schools Naraha -South (楢 叶 町 立 楢 叶 南 小学校, Naraha - chōritsu Naraha minami shōgakkō ) and Naraha -Nord (楢 叶 町 立 楢 叶 北 小学校, Naraha - chōritsu Naraha kita shōgakkō ), as well as the middle school Naraha (楢 叶 町 立 楢 叶 中 学校, Naraha - chōritsu Naraha chūgakkō ).

Twinning

In August 1996 Niitsuru sister city of Naraha. After Niitsuru went up on 1 October 2005 in the new community Aizumisato, was continued with this February 21, 2006, a new sisterhood.
