Naram-Suen of Eshnunna

Naram -Sin of Eshnunna was a Mesopotamian king amurritischer origin, BC ruled according to the Middle Chronology 1808 to 1798 the state Eshnunna.

Naram -Sin's identity with the same rulers of the Assyrian King List has now been falsified. The sometimes to be found in the popular scientific literature claim that Samsi -Adad I ( unused! ) Transition of Ekallatum to Babylon was caused by the alleged conquest Ekallatums by Naram -Sin, also goes back to a presumption Dominique Charpins of 1985, whose source consistent basis is partially outdated.

Nevertheless, Naram -Sin's importance is evident. We know that he conquered Kakallātum at Sippar and Tarnib and Ašnakkum on the Khabur and its power until shortly before Mari expanded. With Mari itself, however, he used a cooperative relationship, which could indicate the strength of the Jaḫdun -Lim of Mari. In Naram -Sin's power range also Me - Turran, Šadappum and Nērebtum were. His state thus comprised a very large area northwest of the city Eshnunna. Naram -Sin was himself deified and called himself "Lord of the world." An inscription Naram -Sin was even found on Kythera.

He ordered debt relief for poor segments of the population. Maybe goes the famous collection of laws, the Codex Eshnunna, a forerunner of the Code of Hammurabi, back to him.
