Narathihapate

King Narathihapate (also Tarokpyemin, † 1287 ) was from 1254 until his death ruler of Bagan in northern Burma. He was a son of Uzana.

1277 Narathihapate came with his troops to Yunnan in order to defy the supposedly ailing Mongols or to defeat them if possible. In the battle of Ngasaunggyan however, he was completely defeated, and the resistance of Bagan collapsed.

The king was assassinated in 1287 by his son, before the Mongols invaded the country and broke the Battle of Bagan. The Mongols were the dominant part of the kingdom of Bagan, including the capital. They ended the dynasty, by 1289 employing an optical puppet ruler in Burma.
