Narbonne Cathedral

The Cathedral of Narbonne (French: Cathédrale Saint -Just- et -Saint- Pasteur de Narbonne ) in the southern French city of Narbonne is a Roman Catholic former cathedral. Since 1840, it has the status of a monument historique in France. With its 41 meters height choir she is one of the highest in France.

History

Construction of the cathedral began 1272nd Until the 18th century Narbonne was archbishopric until then rose through the Concordat of 1801 in the Diocese of Carcassonne. Saint -Just- et -Saint- Pasteur was awarded the rank of a co-cathedral.

The special feature of this cathedral is that this is an unfinished building. Only the choir ( chancel ) was completed and is now used as a church.

Equipment

The organ was built in 1739 by the organ builder Moucherel, and modified several times since then. The instrument has 67 registers, four manuals and pedal today. The Spieltrakturen and Registertrakturen are electric.
