Narendra Modi

Narendra Damodardas modes ( Gujarati: નરેંદ્ર દામોદરદાસ મોદી, born September 17, 1950 in Vadnagar, Gujarat ) is an Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Since October 7, 2001 he has been Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Biography

Modes was born in the village in the district Vadnagar Mahesana ( Mehsana ). As a young man he was engaged in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and came in the 1980s to the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 1988 he became General Secretary of the BJP in Gujarat. He was involved in the political rise of the party in the 1990s. In 2001, when Gujarat from the consequences of previous natural disasters suffered like the strong earthquake in January of this year, he became Chief Minister of Gujarat as a successor to the retiring Keshubhai Patel. He presented himself as a pro- Hindu leaders and propagated Hindutva ideals. Modes modernized the administration of the state and could generate new growth.

In the election in December 2002, he was confirmed as Chief Minister in office. Within three years he was twice honored by India Today because of its economic and administrative successes as the best Chief Minister. It is therefore considered as a promising future top candidate of his party in parliamentary elections ( Lok Sabha ).

In December 2007 modes could with his BJP elections in Gujarat once again win her. In December 2012, he repeated his success for the third year in a row.

Controversy

Narendra Modi's policy is not without controversy. After a stroke in February 2002 in Gujarat on a train with Hindu pilgrims broke then release the violence in which, according to official estimates, 254 Hindus and 790 Muslims were killed. Modes could grant the mob and did not intervene. His government was therefore accused by human rights groups failure. Modes initially joined back, but his party was able to expand its majority in Parliament at the elections Gujarati and chose it again as Chief Minister.

In 2005 modes were denied an entry visa to the U.S. because of its " responsibility for serious violations of religious freedom ." The Indian government protested against this insult. Even five years after the violent actions, modes refuses to be regarded his role critical. He broke off a 2007 CNN interview, in which he questions were asked on this.
