Narrow gauge small locomotives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn

The German Reichsbahn handled the traffic on narrow gauge lines mainly with steam locomotives. But also diesel locomotives were used for specific tasks, but it was only used to acquired or rebuilt locomotives.

Locomotives with gauge of 750 mm were named Ko 6001ff. , Meter gauge locomotives Kings 6501ff. After 1970 they were given without distinction of gauge the series designation 100, which was applicable to all small locomotives, with atomic numbers from 901ff. Because of confusion in 1973, narrow gauge diesel locomotives were renumbered in Series 199. As of 1992, it became the 399 series, here is the track width was again read from the order number: Locomotives with 1000 mm track width came to the sub- series 399.1, locomotives with 600 mm gauge in 399.6 and 750 mm gauge in the lower range 399.7.

See Army Field Railroad locomotive HF 130 C

Two former triaxial Heeresfeldbahnloks type HF 130 C were processed by the DR for various 750 mm narrow gauge lines. They got the numbers Köf 6001 and 6003, the former was in Dahme, the latter used in Nauen. After dismantling the Nauen route they came in 1963 after Dahme, after the local decommissioning in 1965 both locomotives were converted to Rügen. The Köf 6001 (from 1970 100 901 and from 1973: 199 001 ) was retired in 1985, the other (1970: 100 902 and 1973 199 002), most recently at DR even more than 399 703 out, is still and again under its old number 6003 Kings in use.

BMAG FD 80

This locomotive type FD 80 with the track width 750 mm to 1936 delivered to the small lanes of the circle I Jerichow. She had three associated with coupling rod axes and a centrally located cab on one side of the engine, on the other was the mechanical four-speed gearbox, which looked on one of the axes. It was primarily used as a shunter in the Castle train station. In the Reichsbahn they were given the number Kings 6002. 1962 she was scrapped.

Kings 6004

A biaxial former mine locomotive from Army field railway stocks, built in 1944 at Klöckner - Humboldt -Deutz, which was shut down after the war in Dahme, 1959 prepared in RAW Dessau for the operation. Above all, they got a bigger cab. About a gear train and roller chains, the axes were driven. In 1967 she was sold to Pretzien to the Ballerstedt Transport KG, where they still transported to 1980 gravel trains.

The locomotive Karl Marx Babelsberg built in the fifties diesel locomotives for work and railways, which were also suitable for different ( narrow ) gauges (s = narrow-gauge ). From the Type Ns 3, the first machines were delivered in 1952. A total of 280 locomotives of this type were built. The drive of the locomotive was made by a mechanical three-stage gear system with friction clutch located between the axles via a jackshaft and bars on the axes. The machines were equipped with a water-cooled four-cylinder four -stroke diesel engine with 60 hp rated power.

They had an outer frame, the drive was mechanically via a three-stage gearbox and a gearbox. Be a dummy shaft with a coupling rod driven axles, fuel and crank pin sit outside the frame.

A locomotive of type Ns 3 with 750 mm gauge came to Rügen, where it was used only in Kreidewerk stumps and from 1954 at the Rügen tracks as Kings in 6005 shunting. With the setting of freight it was about 1970 off.

Two meterspurige specimens of this type, originally built for the Soviet army, came 1965 on the industrial railway hall, where they were used in shunting the sidings. They wore the numbers Ko 6501 and the 6502. The first was from 1963 to 1965, first in Barth, has been on the Franzburger routes in use. The same technical locomotives differed in appearance: The second received equal a 2800 mm wide cab, so that the visibility when maneuvering with standard gauge cars would be better. Instead of a buffer, these locomotives had a long dome tree, which was sufficient for the dolly operation.

They were introduced in 1970 umgenummert in 100 903 and 904 in 1973 in 199 003 and 004. 1983/1984 they were retired. Shortly before, they have not yet received the distinction of their successors, the numbers 199 991 and 992

From 1970

The remaining small locomotives Kings 6001, 6003, 6501, 6502 were held under the 199.0 series. In addition there were more locomotives:

As the most powerful locomotive in the first LKM series it has an output of 90 hp. 1954 two prototypes of the Ns 4 were built for export to Hungary. In 1955, 18 locomotives built under the type designation Ns 4 a for Indonesia. There is still at least a locomotive of type Ns 4 a in Indonesia. Only in 1957 was the production with the Ns 4 b on. It was produced from 1957 to 1958 in 22 pieces. There are four specimens obtained in Germany. The aforementioned three types all have an outer frame for track widths 600-760 mm. 1957 and 1959 were built 18 copies of type Ns 4 c, which was designed for track widths 900-1067 mm and already had the exterior of the V 10 C. There is no known preserved specimen. From the outer frame series of 1958, two locomotives already had the new structures, if not all. Whether this intermediate series can be described as Ns 4 b 4 c or as Ns, is not clearly determined.

In the DR there were at least three locomotives of type Ns 4 b, all of which have been preserved and their CV to be listed here.

The locomotives of the type V 10 C were developed by LKM Babelsberg from the Ns 4 further, the construction of which had been discontinued in 1958. The first machines were delivered in 1959. The drive concept was adopted by the Ns 4, he was again a mounted under the cab blind shaft with coupling rods on the axes, four courses were available again. For vehicles up to 760 mm gauge with larger gauges the axes had an outer frame, an inner frame. The machines were equipped with an air-cooled diesel engine 6 KVD 14.5 SRL from the diesel engine plant Beautiful Beck with 102 hp.

Two 1964 -built, meter-gauge specimens of this type, first worked in Gotha in an industrial establishment, in 1970 to Spreewaldbahn. There they carried the numbers 100 905 and 906, from 1973 199 005 and 006 Later they came to the Harz narrow gauge railways. In 1991 they were retired, but received at least on paper nor the numbers 399 112 and 113 both are now eV, 199 006 waits for a workup on permanent loan at IG Harz narrow gauge railways.

Two at the Berlin Park Railway in Berlin (formerly Pioneer Railway Wuhlheide ) used locomotives of this type in 600 - mm gauge than 199 were 101 and 102 queued in the car park of the DR.

For shunting meter gauge routes existing locomotives of the type II Kings and II were Kb umgespurt and redrawn.

Note

The locomotives V 30 V 36 C and K were not performed at the Deutsche Reichsbahn as small locomotives.
