Nash County, North Carolina

Nash County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Nashville.

Geography

The County is located in the central northeastern North Carolina, is located in the north about 40 miles from Virginia and has an area of ​​1406 square kilometers, of which 6 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Halifax County, Edgecombe County, Wilson County, Johnston County, Franklin County and Wake County.

History

Nash County was formed on November 15, 1777 from parts of Edgecombe County. It was named, as is the district capital of Nashville, after General Francis Nash, who was killed during the Revolutionary War at the Battle of German Town.
