Nashik district

The district Nashik ( Marathi: नाशिक जिल्हा ) is one of 35 districts in the state of Maharashtra in India. The city of Nashik is the administrative center of the district. The last census in 2011 showed a total population of 6,107,187 people.

Population

The urban population accounts for 42.53 percent of the total population. A clear vast majority of the population are Hindus. Muslims form a significant minority. Another numerically large minority are Buddhists. In 2001, of 4,993,796 inhabitants, 4,306,179 Hindus ( 86.23 percent), 525 983 Muslims ( 10.53 per cent) and 84,044 Buddhists (1.68 percent).

Strongest town inhabitants of the district is the city of millions Nashik (Nasik ). With Malegaon is one of another place to the big cities. Other important cities with a population of more than 25,000 people are Manmad, Deolali, Ozar, Yevla, Satana, Sinnar and Igatpuri.
