Naso (genus)
Mask Unicorn Fish ( Naso vlamingi )
The nose doctor fish are a subfamily of surgeonfish, which consists only of a same genus. In the family Acanthuridae they are the giants. The Longnose surgeonfish is up to one meter long.
The nose doctor fish have two sharp, thorn-like horn plates on the tail, with which they can defend themselves and also injure people. Typical for them is a Auswülstung on the forehead - the "nose".
Nose surgeon fish live zooplankton, which they hunt in the vicinity of coral reefs. Unlike other surgeonfish species form nose surgeon fish from any Freßschwärme. They are predominantly singly or in small groups to observe.
