Rapids on the Rivière Nastapoka

The Rivière Nastapoka (English Nastapoka River) is a major power in the administrative region of Nord -du -Québec in the Canadian province of Québec.

It has a length of 360 km and a catchment area of 13,400 km ². The river has its origin in the Lacs des Loups Marins. From there it flows in a westerly direction through the western Labrador Peninsula and empties into the Chenal Nastapoka and into Hudson Bay. Opposite its mouth is the coastal archipelago of Iles Nastapoka. The estuary is about 40 km north of the Inuit settlement Umiujaq and the inland bay Lac Guillaume- Delisle.

Geography

There were plans to include the catchment area of the river Rivière Nastapoka in a future provincial park. Perhaps these plans fail in favor of expansion of hydropower.
