Natal Indian Congress

The Natal Indian Congress (named after the colony of Natal in reference to the Indian National Congress; short NIC) was a representation of the immigrant Indians in South Africa in the late 19th century and was led by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi as general secretary.

1894 Gandhi organized for the first time with the help of the Natal Indian Congress, which he founded a resistance of Indian immigrants against discriminatory laws such as the deprivation of the right to vote. 1919, the NIC part of the South African Indian Congress was (SAIC ), but remained as a sub-organization to the end of apartheid exist.

In the 1950s, the SAIC allied with the participation of Mosie Moola and Abdulhay Jassat with the African National Congress.
