Natchez Trace

The Natchez Trace, also called Devil's Backbone was a 8000 years old trade route or path mainly the Cherokee, Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians. Today follows a recognized as National Scenic Byway road, the Natchez Trace Parkway, almost exactly the original path and is managed by the National Park Service.

It is 714 km long and runs from Natchez (Mississippi) until shortly before Nashville. A small section crosses the extreme northwest corner of Alabama. It is a two-lane parkway with limited access. The southern end of the route is located northeast of Washington ( Mississippi) and adjacent to the Highway 61 The north end is located northeast of Fairview (Tennessee ) in the suburban community Pasquo (Tennessee ), bordering the Tennessee State Route 100
