Nate Ackerman

Nathaniel ( Nate ) Leedom Ackerman ( born March 4, 1978 in New York City ) is a British-American freestyle wrestler.

Ackerman was born the son of the writer Joanne Leedom - Ackerman and businessman Peter Ackerman. In the first year of life, his family moved with him to Los Angeles. In 1990 he moved to London, where he completed at the American School in London from the school. There, Ackerman also began to wrestle.

In 1995 he took on to study mathematics at Harvard University and graduated from there in June 2000 magna cum laude. Following this, he moved to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, there to obtain his PhD in mathematics.

Ackerman adopted in 1998 next to the U.S. and British nationality. In 1999 he started for the first time for Britain at the Freestyle World Championships in Ankara and was 16 he took part in Manchester and at the World Championships in 2001, 2002, and 2003, and at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. 2002 and 2004 he was British champion in his weight class.

In 2004, Ackerman in Athens for the first time in the Olympic Games in part. He retired in the class up to 74 kg after two defeats against the Armenians Arayik Gevorgian and subsequent silver medalist Gennadi Lalijew from Kazakhstan after the pool phase, and finally finished 19th place
