Nathalie Boltt

Nathalie Boltt (born 1973 in Johannesburg) is a South African actress and dancer.

Life and career

Nathalie Boltt was born as the daughter of a Swiss father and an English mother. She grew up bilingual with English and German.

Boltt attended from 1980 to 1986 the German school in Johannesburg and later the Hyde Park High School. From 1993 to 1996 she trained as an actress at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, where she graduated with a diploma. She was also a professional dance training in ballet, tap dance, jazz and modern dance. From 1994 to 1997 Boltt was principal dancer in The First Physical Theatre Company in Cape Town.

First theatrical engagements had Boltt already during her studies, where she performed in Grahamstown at Rhodes Theatre. In 1996, she was playing Ariel in the poetic fairy-tale play The Tempest by William Shakespeare. This was followed by engagements at the Civic Theatre in Johannesburg and the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town. Boltt came as a theater actress, among other 2000/2001 as Mrs. Forsythe in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller and 2005 as Gertrude in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard on.

From 1996 Boltt also played in film and television. It was initially smaller roles in several television series. So she starred in the BBC series The Professionals - The Next Generation and in the SABC Generations production.

Larger gained fame Boltt then by the solid series lead role of Joey Ortlepp in the South African soap opera Isidingo, where she played continuously from 2001 to 2004. In 2008, she played the title role in the produced by M -Net South African mini-series Ella Blue.

On German television Boltt became known in 2004 by the lead female role as Rose of Zulöw on the side of Tim Bergmann in the historic television miniseries The white Africans. They played the attractive mistress of a South African landowner in the miner in his film role as falls Hans Merensky.

2005 Boltt played in the U.S. disaster film The Poseidon Adventure, a remake of the 1972 classic The Poseidon Adventure. This genre remained in 2007 with her role in the British film production The flood faithful.

The director Neill Blomkamp occupied Boltt 2009 in his science fiction film District 9 in the role of the sociologist Sarah Livingstone.
