Nathan Keith Mauger ( born April 8, 1978 in Christchurch, New Zealand) was a New Zealand rugby union player at the position of the inner three- quarter. He is the older brother of former New Zealand rugby union international's Aaron Mauger. Your Uncle Graeme and Stephen Bachop were in the late 1980s to the mid-1990s also New Zealand rugby union international. In addition, another uncle named Ivan Mauger won six times the Speedway World Cup

Mauger debuted in 1998 with Canterbury in the National Provincial Championship ( NPC). In his first season he put NPC with seven trials is equal to most of his team. However, in the next two years he was able to run up a single time for Canterbury because of injuries. After his first successful season in the NPC, he debuted at the 1999 Crusaders, combined to win their second title in the Super 12 this year. After his nearly two-year injury layoff, he was appointed again in 2001 for the Crusaders. There he played together as well as in Canterbury, with his brother Aaron. In the same year, he scored in the NPC, this time with 14 attempts, again most of Canterbury. In addition, the team with the two brothers Mauger won the New Zealand provincial championship and successfully defended the Ranfurly Shield success.

In 2001 he was also appointed for the November test matches in the squad of the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks. For the All Blacks, he played twice. However, these games were not official internationals. He made his debut against Ireland A and completed his last game against Scotland A ( both B- teams ). In 2002 he won with the Crusaders the Super 12 title, but did not play in the play- offs. Due to injury, he managed, unlike his brother, never the breakthrough. So he was in the Super 12 with the Crusaders usually only replacement. So he went each for a season to England for Gloucester RFC and after Japan's Ricoh Black Rams. Then he came back to New Zealand where he played in the Air New Zealand Cup for Hawke 's Bay, but did not get a Super 14 contract.

Like many other New Zealand Rugby Players (including his brother ), Mauger moved again in 2007 to Europe. He signed a contract with the Italian first division Benetton Rugby Treviso. The following year he went in April for a few months for RC Toulon, then playing in the French second division Pro D2. After the successful ascent into the top 14 Maugers contract with Toulon was not renewed at the end of the season 2007/ 08.

Then he finished in the same year his active rugby career and founded in 2009 in his hometown of Christchurch 's own rugby academy called Mauger Developments Rugby.
