Nathan T. Hopkins

Nathan Thomas Hopkins ( born October 27, 1852 Ashe County, North Carolina, † February 11, 1927 in Pikeville, Kentucky ) was an American politician. In 1897, he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Nathan Hopkins was born in North Carolina and was soon in the Pike County, Kentucky. There he attended the public schools. Then he began to work in agriculture. In 1876 he was ordained as a clergyman of the Baptist church. In this church he was over 50 years working. In the years 1878-1890 he was also a tax collector in Floyd County. Politically, Hopkins was a member of the Republican Party. In 1893 and 1894 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Kentucky. Thither he should return again 1923-1924.

In the congressional elections of 1894 he was defeated as Republican candidate in the tenth constituency of Kentucky Democrat Joseph M. Kendall.
