National Council for Culture and Arts

The Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes ( German: National Council for Culture and Arts), Conaculta short, was established by Executive Order of 6 December 1988 as a decentralized body of the Secretaría de Educación Pública and the National Council for Culture and Arts of Mexico.

The task of the Council is based in Mexico City is the implementation of Mexican cultural policy of the government, in particular the protection of cultural heritage, the promotion and dissemination of Mexican art and culture more closely related to the artists and cultural workers.

The current President of the Council is Sergio Vela.
