National emblem of Cape Verde

The coat of arms of Cape Verde contains a circle, in which the state name is written in Portuguese. The circle also contains a torch in a triangle. These symbols represent freedom and unity of the state. The ten stars that surround the circle, symbolizing, as well as in the national flag, the islands of Cape Verde.

Colonial Crest

1935 received the Portuguese colonies own coat of arms. The coats of arms were designed uniform. When they showed the five common elements of the coat of arms of Portugal Quinas and five green waves on silver. As part of its own Cape Verde showed a green field with three waves in silver. Then a black caravel with white sails and golden ornaments.
