National Imagery Transmission Format
NITF (English National Imagery Transmission Format) is a file format for storing image data and additional information.
The NITF format is used by the U.S. Department of Defense, to store digital image data and exchange. In addition, the format may contain additional metadata in the header. The current version is 2.1, which is documented in the military standard MIL -STD -2500 -B.
