National Independence Party (Ghana)

The National Independence Party (NIP ) was a political party in Ghana.

Politically, the NIP was just like the People's National Convention, and the People's Heritage Party in public opinion a continuation of the political tradition of the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah.

History

The NIP was established with the fourth and current constitution of Ghana after the military junta under Jerry Rawlings in 1992.

In the presidential elections in 1992, the multi-millionaire tycoon joined Rev. Dr. Kwabena Darko for the NIP as a presidential candidate and was defeated later president and former military dictator Rawlings. In the same year the NIP boycotted adjacent to the New Patriotic Party (NPP ), People's National Convention (PNC ) and the People's Heritage Party (PHP) elections to the Ghanaian Parliament.

In 1993, the NIP united with the PHP for People's Convention Party.
