History

In 1986, the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League was formed, which started its first season in early 1987. After the second season, the name of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League in League ( MILL ) has been changed, which until 1997 had on hand, as we decided to change the structure of the league. Previously, the team owned by the league, but as of the 1998 season, each team should be taken over by one or more investors. The franchises were now independent from the League organizations. From MILL also created in 1997 the NLL and five of the six teams in the league changed the old into the new. With seven teams competed in their first NLL season. Over the years the league has been increased by other teams and as of the 2007 season, a total of 13 teams participate in the game mode.

The plan of league president Jim Jennings envisages that by 2011, the league will be expanded to 24 teams and the match schedule for each team will include 20 games.

The 2006 season was the most successful season for the league with an average of 10,804 spectators per game.

Each team is required to complete in the 2007 season 16 games, eight home and eight away games. The distribution of the games varies from team to team, due to the different number of teams per division.

To understand here is a simplified representation:

East Division

Five teams from the East Division complete the Schedule A, two teams the Schedule B. Each team must complete at least two games against each team in own division, and a total of three or four games against teams from the West Division.

West Division

Four teams from the West Division complete the Schedule A, two teams the Schedule B. Each team must complete at least two games against each team in own division, as well as a total of four or five games against teams from the East Division.

Playoffs

The top four teams from each division in the regular season qualify for the playoffs for the Champion 's Cup. In the quarter- finals and semi-finals in the divisions occur separately at each other. To play the best team in a division against the fourth- best team in the same division and the second-best against the third best team. The winners of both matches meet in the semifinals. The team that was better placed in the regular season, has two rounds in the home right. In the final, then meet the winner of the East Division playoffs on the winner of the playoffs in the West. The winner of the finals receives the Champion 's Cup.

A marked contrast to other North American sports leagues, is that a team feeding after a win in the next round of the playoffs, while four wins are necessary, for example in the National Hockey League. 1998, the final of the NLL was played in a similar system. At that time, the winner of the playoffs took two wins in the final.
