National Liberal Party (UK, 1931)

The National Liberal Party was a political party in Britain.

The party split in 1931 under the leadership of John Allsebrook Simon as a Liberal National Party of the Liberal Party from because they did not want to endorse their toleration of Ramsay MacDonald's Labour government. At the last general election before the war, in 1935, they amounted to 33 gained seats in front of the Liberals. Politician of the National Liberal Party were members of the multi-party Government of National Governments.

The first two post-war elections in 1945 and 1950, brought a ratio of deputies numbers of NLP to Liberals from low 11 to 12, then 16 to 9, also in 1951, 1955 and 1959, the National Liberal Party was in the lead. In the 60s it was then surpassed by the Liberal party in the " race for third place " again.

In 1968, the National Liberals united with the Conservative Party.
