National Museums Scotland

The National Museums of Scotland are the merger formed in 1998 from the Royal Museum and the Museum of Scotland.

Both parts of the museum are right next to each other in the Chambers Street in Edinburgh. The Royal Museum is a museum of science, technology and art. It is housed in a building dating from 1888. The Museum of Scotland dealing with Scottish history and culture. It is located in a new building was completed in 1998 right next to the building, 1888. Due to the completely different exhibition themes and architecture of the two parts of the Museum National Museum of Scotland are in the public usually not perceived as a unit, but as two completely independent museums.

Admission to the permanent collections of the National Museum of Scotland is free. For special exhibitions, however, admission is charged.
