National Portrait Gallery (Australia)

The National Portrait Gallery (German National Portrait Gallery ) is a museum in the Australian capital Canberra. It is a collection of portraits of prominent Australians who have accomplished extraordinary in their field or their life had a long -lasting interest in the subject. The collection was founded in May 1998 and is spread over two locations.

In the Old Parliament House, 1927-1988 seat of the Australian Parliament, the portraits of former personalities are issued, usually in the form of paintings. The central components of the collection are the portraits of all the Australian Prime Minister and busts ( including the death mask of Ned Kelly). The museum building on the nearby Commonwealth Place presents contemporary portraits, the main focus is on the photograph.
