National Research Development Corporation

The National Research Development Corporation ( NRDC ) was founded by the British government, means for transfer of innovation from public research institutions to private companies.

History

The NRDC was founded in 1948 by the Labour government of Clement Attlee to evaluate the technological developments of World War II. The first managing director was Lord John Giffard. 1981 merged the NRDC with the National Enterprise Board to British Technology Group.

Procedure

The NDRC granted licenses for innovations to private companies for economic evaluation. Among the licensed innovations included the first commercial hovercraft ( built by Saunders -Roe ), the carbon fiber composite materials made ​​of asbestos and developments in semiconductor technology.
