National Security Archive

The National Security Archive is a non-profit research and archival institution at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Would you founded in 1985 by journalist Scott Armstrong.

Tasks

You archived and published by the Government of the United States released documents on selected topics of American foreign policy. The Archive collects and analyzes documents from many different government institutions. These include inter alia the intelligence community who are committed because of the " Freedom of Information Act " to stop publishing declared secret documents.

History

On 1 October 2007 Federal Judge Colleen Kollar sentenced Kotelly, the U.S. government under George W. Bush for publication by the government as secret classified documents. In the 38 - page ruling, it was found that the classification was unlawful because it was "arbitrary, capricious, an abuse of discretion and not in accordance with the law" was.

From 1985 to 1998, the National Security Archive of the Fund for Peace, Inc. has been funded. Among the supporters now include the Ford Foundation and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
