The Suphachalasai Stadium (also: National Stadium, Thai: สนาม ศุภ ชลาศัย กรีฑาสถาน แห่ง ชาติ, RTGS: Sanam Suphachalasai krithasathan haeng chat; lit. "National Stadium Suphachalasai field ", English National Stadium or Suphachalasai Stadium ) is a multi-purpose stadium in the Thai capital Bangkok. The stadium located on Rama I Road in Pathum Wan district is used both for athletics events and football matches. Since 2009, the finale, the Thai Football Cup competition and the League Cup takes place here every year.

Name

The stadium is by Captain Luang Suphachalasai; named ( Bung Suphachalasai 1895-1965 ). The naval officer was a member of the " People's Party " ( khana Ratsadon ), the 1932 coup was that ended the absolute monarchy in what was then Siam. He was one of the leaders of the coup in 1933, which was to defend constitutionalism against the Royalists, but also secured the domination of the military wing of the Popular Party.

History

The stadium was until the completion of the Rajamangala stadium in 1998, the National stadium in the country. Right next to the stadium is the stop " National Stadium " of the Bangkok Skytrain.

Right next to the stadium is the smaller Thephasadin Stadium in the BEC - Tero Sasana plays its home games of the Thai Premier League.
