National Synchrotron Light Source

The National Synchrotron Light Source ( NSLS ) is a particle accelerator at Brookhaven National Laboratory on Long Iceland, New York. The plant is mainly used as a source of synchrotron radiation (see also synchrotron ). It has two electron storage rings for beam generation: the so-called VUV ring ( "vacuum ultra - violet" ), which for wavelengths in the infrared, visible and UV range is designed, as well as the X - Ray ring for the production of X-rays. The two storage rings were taken in the years 1984 and 1986.

The NSLS is operated by the U.S. Department of Energy.
