National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba

The Unión Nacional de Artistas de Cuba y Escritores ( UNEAC; span of National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba ) is the umbrella organization for Cuban artists. You should guide the national artist in the sense of the Cuban Revolution. The UNEAC was founded on August 22, 1961 by the poet Nicolás Guillén. Other well-known personalities in the Direkturiom UNEAC were Alejo Carpentier, José Lezama Lima and René Portocarrero.

Administrative structure

The leading organs of the UNEAC are the Congress, the National Council, the Bureau, the Secretariat and the executives of the associated organizations.

The Bureau has 30 members, including the President, the 1st Vice-President and five Vice-Presidents, the Presidents of the associated national associations, two Secretaries and the President of the fourteen Provincial Committee and two members without office.

The administrative headquarters is located in the Vedado district of Havana, the capital.

Associated Organisations

The UNEAC unites five associated organizations:

  • Asociación de Artistas Escénicos (Association of Stage Artists ) - Organized actors, circus performers, dancers, directors, etc.
  • Asociación de Artistas Plásticos (Association of Fine Artists )
  • Asociación de Escritores ( Writers' Union )
  • Asociación de Músicos ( Federation of Musicians ) - in it musicians, artists, composers, writers organize music etc.
  • Asociación de Cine de Realizadores, Radio y Televisión (Association of cinema, television and radio broadcasters )
