Roosevelt Hall

The National War College ( NWC ) is an institute of the National Defense University, the U.S. armed forces. It is located in Theodore Roosevelt Hall at Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, DC, the oldest active U.S. army base.

General

The NWC was established on 1 July 1946 as a successor to the Army-Navy Staff College, which lasted from June 1943 until July 1946.

Many staff officers of the national armed forces attend courses at the NWC to qualify for future staff and command uses.

On 28 November 1972, the National War College became a monument and performed as a National Historic Landmark.
