National Youth League (Australia)

The A-League National Youth League is a national Australian Football League, which will be held in parallel with the national professional league A-League. The League serves as the junior and reserve round of the A- League teams. The standing under the responsibility of the Australian Football Association league was launched in August 2008.

Mode and Player Regulations

In the first two seasons, the mode directed by that of the A-League. The teams played in a league round three times against each other, then found in 2008/ 09, the top two teams in the championship final, 2009/10 played the four best teams in the knockout system for the championship. For the 2010/11 season, the championship will be decided on a league mode, each team shall take into account a total of 23 match days from 20 games, so against four opponents there will be two or three encounters during the season.

Each team has about 14 Australian players, old on January 1 of each season between 16 and 20 years with a Youth Development Agreement, an agreement on an amateur basis, equip. Since the 2010/11 season up to three youth players also may be tied with mindestvergüteteten professional contracts that do not include the salary cap of the professional team. Up to four players may be older than 21 to participate from the professional team per game. The teams use this particular replacement players and fit-again players to help to match practice.

Participant

Of the ten participants in the 2013/14 A- League season, nine teams a team in the National Youth League. Only the New Zealand A- League team Wellington Phoenix waived participation. Since the 2009/10 season, the Australian Institute of Sport also participates with a team in the game mode.
