Native Processing

Native Processing and Prozessornativität are in music terms for creating music on a computer without any additional aids. With the adjective native is clarified here that the computing power comes solely from the microprocessor of the computer and no additional computing power (eg, DSPs) is employed.

Generating the music takes over special music software that does the work, was necessary for the earlier own hardware. The first applications in the early 1980s, the first software sequencer, followed in the late 1980s and early 1990s by software synthesizers and finally by the software samplers and various effects plug-ins, which took over in mid -1990 the function of the effect units appeared.

However, only since the late 1990s, a really satisfactory music production is also possible on ordinary home computers, mainly because the effect plug-ins and soft synths and soft samplers require a lot of computing power. Critics also often claim that the results of good hardware of software can be achieved never, especially in terms of analog synthesizers, but also partly on effect equipment based on about tube effects.
