Naunet

Naunet is the ancient Egyptian goddess of the primeval sea of the underworld and was one of the Ogdoad of Hermopolis. She is the wife of Nun. In the Old Kingdom it was one of the four deities of the two great gods on the northern side of the late king (Pharaoh) was set; her husband now her sat opposite on the southern side. From the other two gods Shu was responsible for the eastern and Tefnut for the Western Region.

Naunet is represented in the pyramid texts with the determinative of the subsurface area and understood as the source of all earthly waters, which produces a unit together with the heavenly waters of Nun. This symbolizes Naunet the annual Nile flood, which brings forth new life.
