Naunton Wayne

Naunton Wayne ( born June 22, 1901 in Llanwonno, Glamorganshire, Wales; † 17 November 1970 at Tolworth, Surrey, England ) was a British actor.

Life and work

Wayne began his stage career in 1920 and concentrated on music halls, revues and vaudeville. In 1930 he first came on at the Chelsea Follies, 1933, he was a partner of Josephine Baker in London.

1927 to hear on the radio for the first time, his film career began with the dawn of the talkie era. He became known for his regular film partnership with Basil Radford since Alfred Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes, where the two do not lose the socket during bombardment of their train. Since then the duo in various films used the cliché of the unshakable British gentleman who can bring nothing from the rest and echauffiert at most about bad manners or a delay in cricket.
