Naval Base Kitsap

The Naval Base Kitsap is a naval base in the United States Navy on the Kitsap Peninsula (part of Olympic Peninsula ) in the U.S. state of Washington. It was created in 2004 by merging the former Naval Station Bremerton and Submarine Base Naval Submarine Base Bangor. The base serves as a naval high command of the naval forces of the Navy Region Northwest and as home port for surface forces and submarines and provides numerous accommodations for staff and supply and maintenance facilities for Navy units. The Naval Base Kitsap is composed of various military installations in Bremerton, Bangor and Keyport.

In 2005 received the annual award based Commander in Chief 's Award for Installation Excellence for the best base of the U.S. Navy.
