Navassa Island#Unofficial flag

As a flag of the United States Minor Outlying Islands the flag of the United States is used officially. However, there are several uninhabited islands different flag proposals, which are used for residential customers.

The flags from Johnston Atoll, Navassa and Palmyra were first on 7 December 2001 at the USS Arizona Memorial, the 60th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, set as a symbol of the islands, commemorating those Americans who in World War II had served there and lost their lives.

Johnston Atoll

The unofficial flag of the Johnston Atoll consists of three horizontal stripes in blue and white - blue. The strips in Air Force Blue are slightly narrower than the white center stripe. White stands for the coral, blue for the ocean. On the lower blue stripe is in gold letters the name of the atoll. A stylized golden bird's head extends across all three strips. It stands for the United States Air Force and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the competent authorities for the management of the atoll. The four blue stars in white stripes symbolize the atoll belonging to Johnston Iceland, Iceland Akau, Hikina Iceland and Iceland sand.

Midway Islands

The unofficial flag of Midway Islands consists of three different widths, horizontal stripes. The wide top strip is held in the central blue and points to the right enables a Laysan Albatross in white and black. The strip is then to heaven. Separated by a thin white stripe that represents the beach of the islands, symbolizes the lowest stripes in a blue-green the surrounding ocean. It was first presented on 29 May 2000. The flag was designed by the staff of the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge.

Navassa

The unofficial flag of Navassa shows the side view of the island: White sky, blue sea, green island and the gray lighthouse with green roof on the side of the mast. It was designed by Harry Wheeler from Hawaii. Even Haiti claims the island of Navassa and uses for them its flag.

Palmyra Atoll

During World War II stationed on the atoll American soldiers used a flag with three equal horizontal stripes of red (the sky ), blue (the sea ), and yellow ( the beach ) and a yellow, half a slice of ( sun) in the red stripes. For the USS Arizona Memorial, the flag was modified slightly and the stripes were different widths. The sun was something "lifted". The owners in 2001, The Nature Conservancy, approved the use of the flag, but they led not officially, so not even the managing authority, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Wake Iceland

The unofficial flag of Wake Iceland is divided horizontally in white and red. A blue pentagon is located on the leech. On these there are three golden stars and a golden disc with the outline of the island and to its name in blue.
