Nayak dynasty

As Nayak and Nayaka Dynasties (from Sanskrit Nayaka नायक "leader" ) refers to several South Indian dynasties that emerged after the fall of the kingdom of Vijayanagar from this.

After the establishment of the Vijayanagar Empire in the 14th century, whose ruler had used Telugu -language military governor, managed the parts of the empire and the title Nayak contributed. As the Vijayanagara Empire in 1565 after the crushing defeat by the Deccan sultanates went down in the Battle of Talikota, filled many of the Nayaks, the resulting power vacuum, by making their own business. Among the most important Nayak dynasties were the Nayaks of Madurai with residence in Madurai and Tiruchirappalli ( Trichinopoly ) and Nayaks of Thanjavur, who ruled Thanjavur ( Tanjore ).
