Naz

Naz was a municipality in the district of Gros- de -Vaud in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Naz joined on 1 July 2011 with communities Dommartin, Poliez -le- Grand and Sugnens the new community Montilliez together.

Geography

Naz is on 675 m above sea level. M., 5 km east-northeast of Echallens and 17 km north- northeast of the canton capital Lausanne ( straight line ). The farming village extends on a small plateau in the northeastern Gros de Vaud, west of the Valley of Mentue, in the Vaud Mittelland.

Population

With 137 inhabitants ( 31 December 2010) Naz was one of the smallest municipalities of the canton of Vaud. Of the 95.6 % inhabitants are French-speaking and German-speaking 4.4 % (as of 2000). The population of Naz amounted in 1850 to 98 inhabitants in 1900 to 77 inhabitants. After the population had decreased to 1980 on 54 people, a significant increase in population was recorded again.

Economy

History

Naz belonged since the Middle Ages to Dommartin which was under the cathedral chapter of Lausanne. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, the village came under the administration of Kastlanei Dommartin, an exclave in the Bailiwick of Lausanne. After the collapse of the ancien régime Naz belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the District Echallens. In the years 1983 and 1984 fires aimed at serious damage. Naz does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Dommartin.
